Here's a 3-minute video demonstrating 4 of our most popular Unity mouthpiece models in 4 different weights: Standard-weight B2-7; Lightweight (LT) DM4LD; Extra-lightweight (XLT) MF VI; and the Retro B2-7. All are played on a non-Monette production trumpet. Which models...
Itamar Borochov Interview

Here is Itamar Borochov in a video from 2019 describing what he experienced playing his new Monette quarter tone trumpet after two days of intense table work to release old patterns of misalignment and unnecessary muscular holding. He did not play for two full days while having three sessions over two days with lots of sleep in between. Then he played aligned and with much more freedom... and w...

New RAJA Unity Trumpet!
Переглядів 3,9 тис.2 роки тому
Here’s a new Raja Unity Trumpet..… a new design - just the second one of its kind. The first was Wynton’s new instrument delivered last summer. Theo’s Raja Tantra and the Infinity horns are similar for wild overtones. This one has the same lightning-fast response as Wynton’s horn that feels explosive. You can hear these strong overtones as well as an almost overpowering resultant-tone-quality p...

"April Fools' Day or April Fool's Day is an annual custom on 1 April consisting of practical jokes and hoaxes. Jokesters often expose their actions by shouting "April Fools!" at the recipient.... The custom of setting aside a day for playing harmless pranks upon one's neighbour has been relatively common in the world historically."

Wynton's Next Generation RAJA XLT PLUS from 400 feet away!
Переглядів 11 тис.2 роки тому
Here is BJ playing Wynton Marsalis's new Next Generation RAJA XLT PLUS, just minutes before Dave headed to the airport to take the horn to NYC and deliver it to Wynton. This trumpet's sound at a distance of 400 feet (120 meters) is incredibly resonant, whether played loud or soft.
New Lightweight RAJA Bb Prototype from 45 feet Away
Переглядів 3,5 тис.3 роки тому
Here's BJ playing the new prototype lightweight Raja Bb. Video was made with the camera 45 feet away at the other end of the shop. The overtones coming out of this instrument are like nothing we have ever heard before, and the dynamic extremes are so effortless! All of this can be heard in the video, although the sound as recorded through the camera's microphone can't provide the full experienc...
Looks like a Benge Trumpet. I have a Claude Gordon model.
Show!!!!Gratidão!!!!❤
Being a trumpet player myself and after meeting Wynton Marsalis in person and hearing him play on one of these is absolutely breath-taking. Luv the Raja P2, looking forward to buying one some day! My hats off to Monette, all I can say is WOW, genius level creations, keep up the great work!
Im thinking about buying one should i go for prana or unity?
We consider Unity mouthpieces to be so much better than the older Prana designs that most of the Pranas have now become practically obsolete. But both are great mouthpieces!
Standard or LT weight
Finally
I know everyone is different, and what sounds one way in front of the bell, is different behind the bell, and that doesn't include the "feel" - how it feels to your lips, your tongue, your air stream, and to your Psyche. Nevertheless, I preferred by a wide margin the sound of the RETRO.
Thats so interesting…anyway its in the end personal taste & what suits you as a player. Its a boring world if everyone is the same
After hearing that, its hard to see how anyone would want the retro apart from looks 😂 The lower register is so much better on the Unity mouthpieces.
rim size…2?4?

Just recently got a prana mouthpiece and a new ytr 8335 and my range has seen an improvement of more than an octave. This as a returning trumpet player.
Somzaooo
Charlie Porter has been my favorite trumpeter since I found him. When he plays his Monette he sounds like liquid gold poured down from heaven. What an incomparable master.
Taps can also be played on Trumpet
is it p3 or? p2??? please explain
MP B2S3 PRANA??
Wow, is the double-C pump available in Unity? 🤩 I'll take two!
This goes to show that Monette is the best out there.
Hola donde vende estas boquillas estoy en México

What’s the difference between Unity and Praha?
Hi! BJ here. Unity mouthpieces are a lot like the older Prana designs in that they allow for a highly resonant sound and effortless physical approach through the full range of the instrument. But Unity mouthpieces have many improvements over the older Prana mouthpieces, including in their cup designs, internal specs, bodies, and in many of the rim designs. All of these newer elements, and they way the parameters are carefully balanced in each specific mouthpiece, means that Unity mouthpieces provide additional ease, consistency, resonance, clarity, and precision, when compared to older Prana mouthpiece designs. Also, each of the standard Unity mouthpieces that we sell through our website and dealers has been developed specifically for optimal functioning in common types of mass-produced, non-Monette instruments. (Specific designs for Monette instruments are made as well.)
If I come to monette shop in Portland can I try different mouthpieces to choose which is right for me?
Yes. You will need to make an appointment to visit the shop. Our phone number and email address are on our website.
This is NOT a negative comment. I played conventional mouthpieces for 30 years before investigating Monette. For me the transition took patience and fortitude and it was not easy. Conventional equipment made me, for lack of a better description, “a brute force player.” I had enough air to make anything work. To acclimate to Monette I had to learn to trust a reduced yet more focused air stream. Believe it or not the transition was accelerated by taking the trumpet out of the equation and buzzing my mouthpiece to the radio in the car for about a month.
Hahaha 🤪 so until i can afford a monette mouthpiece I’m gonna try those adjustments hahaha 😝 maybe it’ll help my intonation?
How much..?😮🙄
double C ? I can't even make high C But this thing teaches nothing ! Where's the tuition, the clues ?
TL;DW: "You might think that mouthpieces with massive throats would require lots more air to play, make the upper register a struggle, and potentially have wacky tuning, but in reality, we make all our Prana mouthpieces from solid wizard jizz so that doesn't apply."
It sounded just like Doc Severinsen wow
That flumpet turns me on!! hahaha love it
So, how does he do it?
❤❤
How does a silver 6 compare to a bach megatone 3c? Anybody? These guys turned off comments on the silver 6 videos like if they’re hiding something.
No one's hiding anything. Comments may have been turned off on some old videos because of trolls or spam. The Silver 6 is virtually the exact same size as the Bach 3C. It will feel a bit more free-blowing and will play with a faster response, cleaner attacks, and more consistent pitch, timbre, and resistance through the pitch and dynamic ranges of the instrument, allowing for a more effortless physical approach (particularly noticeable in the upper register). The Silver 6 is slightly lighter than a Bach Megatone (which was Bach's imitation of the old Monette STC-1 mouthpiece body from the mid-1980s) and it may sound just slightly brighter, but with more resonance and color in the sound. I hope this is helpful. If you have other questions, feel free to email them to me at bj@monette.net.
Excelente!!!
Kkkkkkkkkkkkk
"Do I know what ya mean? I designed it." 😆😁😄😂😅🤣
Curious Dave. How many microns of Gold do you use for plating?
I just love this video. Tom’s reaction always makes me smile, and it’s also so inspiring how he was also immediately hip to what musical horizons Monette gear was going to open up for him!
Major air velocity .Great job Patrick!
I thought the mf-stc sounded the nicest
Has anyone of the trumpet makers taken Dave up on his offer at the 5:37 mark? If not, will someone in a position to... please pass along this UA-cam to someone you might know in a position to take Dave up on his offer.
I got two monettes resonance and unity. They are amazing, always in tune but you must be relax all the time. If your a tense they do not sound well.
Ayyy Charlie Porter
Dave Monette walked into the shop where I worked as an instrument repairman in the early 1980's in Chicago. I helped him bore out a mouthpiece receiver for a prototype he was working on at the time. I had no idea who he was or who he would become. I still have an extra receiver he left behind as proof.
Ordered my Unity B6-7, can't wait to test it out! Might even have to buy the lead variations lol.
I got one too. How do you like it? I think it's very stable and resonant.
Beautiful tone and horn. 🫡
Do You plan to make Unity Trombone mouthpieces?
Horn is speaking poetry 🤩
Nice to see Patrick playing!!
F sharping great!
Black Friday sale? :)
